Dezinaworld Winter Sale is underway. June has a fabulous offer on at the moment, click the link to take you to her Dezinaworld Blog where all the details are available for the Winter Sale.
When I started on the Dezinaworld DT it was the first time I was introduced to the png format. For the four cards I used png 5 from Christmas Beauties and for the backgrounds I selected two from the seasonal backgrounds (10 backgrounds in this set). The words are from the White Christmas set.
The main image (woman against background) was printed onto regular photo printer paper and the words were printed onto a transparency.
The same woman but this time in mirror image. Using png was wonderful for layering the women against the different background.
As with the Pink Santa cards I limited myself to only a few supplies. This time glitter cardstock, organza which I tore into strips, pearly stars, etc and of course Deko Ice.
The cardbases are all the same size but on these cards I reduced the size of the image which allowed more room for matting and layering.
I will be sharing some Shabby Dezinaworld projects very soon.

I had this post drafted for a rainy day but on visiting Sharon’s blog and reading she is the guest for Take A Word and the theme is Sewing then I knew that rainy day had arrived and so re-drafted the post.
This postcard was made for the Postcard Swap I am participating in. Alexa was allocated September and she said that we could select our own theme. I opted for vintage dressmaking as I never tire of this theme and never tire of using Oxford Impressions’ Dressforms & Corset set. I also used Suzanne’s Sewing Notions set, fast becoming another favourite of mine.
I enjoyed making this postcard so much that I had to eventually tell myself “Step away from the postcard” as I was continually adding more and more stamped elements and scraps. As you can see I either stamped onto inked or painted cardstock and also stained old curtain lining in a tea bath. The button was made from clay after which I painted, inked and finally stamped onto it. I used my mini sewing machine, without thread, to create the holes.

Those Times Gone By (FSC#8)

Let us take a trip down memory lane to Times Gone By with Fashionable Stamping as your companion. This is the latest challenge at FSC. Whether it be a particular time in history, fashion from times gone by or to evoke a sense of what has gone before us please share your artwork but remember that FSC is all about stamping so no digis.
It was a difficult choice as to which stamps to select as the majority of my stamps have a Times Gone By feel to them. I eventually selected Oxford Impressions’ April In Paris and some stamps from Paris Poste.
The corset stamp was repeatedly stamped onto paper which I’d painted with heritage colour emulsion paint. For the tag I sprayed homemade mists and walnut ink onto copier paper. Other stamped elements were stamped onto scraps and added to the card with French book text, lace, pearls and paper flower.
Is she caught up in her memories of her own times gone past, her mis-spent youth in Paris perhaps!
The FSC look forward to seeing your art. All details for entering the challenge are available at the FSC Blog, although I have to say there are very few rules at this challenge site. When you visit you will also be able to view my fellow DT members stunning artwork.

Santa Is In The Pink

June at Dezinaworld has Christmas images to suit all tastes. Over the next few weeks I will be sharing cards, etc made with a variety of her image sheets but today the focus is on the Pink Santas image sheet, as you can see below a sheet with Victorian Christmas charm. At Dezinaworld earlier in the week June shared the DT art that was created with this sheet. If you have visited you will see that there are many possibilities.
June also has freebies at Dezinaworld for you to use in your artwork.
After printing off this sheet I sat with a handful of supplies (yes, they were mainly scraps!) and set about making a batch of Christmas cards.
For all cards I used Kraft cards as my base.
I limited myself to a few stamps from Oxford Impressions’ Winter Snow and Season of Giving plates.
Deko Ice was used here and there to create sparkle and texture.
Scraps of hessian, twine and tissue tape decorate the cards.
Keeping my supplies to a minimum and creating cards that are a variation on a theme resulted in the cards being made relatively quickly.
Linking this to Pink Saturday, which Beverley does a wonderful job of organising.
I am sorry if I have not been able to visit your Blogs recently, I hope it won’t be too long before I am able to catch-up with you.

For today’s post I am sharing two cards I made with images from Divas D’Este’s Tiny Vintage Italian Postcards CS. This CS is absolutely stunning and I deliberated for a while in my consideration of what surface I would print it onto, finally opting for vellum and glad I did as the surface is perfect for art style images.
Oxford Impressions’ Venezia set was used to support the images.
The background was kept as a loose style with watermarks.
The second card
A scrap of book text. By luck I had an old travel literature book on Venice which I knew I wouldn’t read again. Mica scraps and pearls.
This post was a break from Winter/Christmas but I will return on Friday with Pink Santas!

In A Winter Wonderland (CI Challenge)

If you are looking for details of The Stampsmith Blog Hop please scroll to previous post or click the button on my sidebar. Thank You. Lynne
I am delighted to be the host for the November Crafty Individuals Challenge. As winter is fast approaching I have chosen Winter Wonderland as the theme. Crafty Individuals have a beautiful array of Winter/Christmas stamps including some new releases. It is one of the new releases that I used for this canvas panel hanging, CI-332.
My colour choice might seem slightly odd for a Winter Wonderland theme but I was inspired by a winter’s sky, when there are sweeping pink tones and the way it reflects on a frosty landscape.
The 7″x5″ panel was painted with walnut ink, acrylic, emulsion, etc with shimmer created by pearlescent paint, then the edges were dipped into Deko Ice to create a frosty appearance.
Rudolph was stamped onto tissue paper and layered onto a painted canvas panel. This panel was edged with lace to create a pretty effect with the decorative snowflake dangling from under the panel.
To the side, tissue paper I had painted and stamped. By partially inking the Rudolph stamp I was able to create the stamped snowflakes on the tissue. This was layered with a metal snowflake covered with Deko Ice and a pearl.
We would love to see your Winter Wonderland entries at the CI Challenge.
Wishes.

This month, we will be entering ALL of the comments from this blog and each of the designers’ blogs into a hat for an additional full sheet of Stampsmith rubber – also valued at $21!!! The more comments you leave, the more chances you’ll have to win!!If you arrived here from Karen McAlpine then you are in the right place! From here Julie Mutch invites you to visit! Below is a complete list of the blogs in this hop incase you have missed any! Be sure to leave a comment at each stop for more chances to win! Have fun hopping and best of luck in the draw!!
I have the honour of hosting another theme at TSC so without further ado the November theme is Ribbon & Lace. Create a project that includes some ribbon and lace and link up your project! Please remember that all entries must include at least one Stampsmith stamp. All projects will be entered in a random draw for your choice of a full sheet of Stampsmith rubber valued at $21!
This is such an easy challenge as you can embellish your artwork with little pieces of ribbon/lace or you can go completely overboard, it can be feminine or a masculine project you enter to the challenge.
My stamp is from the heart warming Its’ A Dog’s Life plate.
This is a notebook which I altered with artist canvas sheet painted with cream acrylic in a rough and ready fashion before layering velvet ribbon and lace.
The image was layered onto Melissa Frances paper with lace and a button to decorate.
I cut a flower pattern out of lace, stamped Friendship (from Say It With Flair plate) onto painted canvas.
I hope you will enjoy the Blog Hop and also have fun with the November theme. The theme runs for the full month of November so plenty of time to create. Good Luck everyone.
