Hello Everyone
I hope you all had a lovely and creative weekend.
I still have a final post to share with the gifts I received from my art friends but for today I thought I would share with you the first of my Valentine projects.
If you are a visitor to my Blog then you might remember that last year I shared a few projects using Oxford Impressions’ Giant Distressed Alphabet , in the main Christmas related items such as gift packaging. Once again I return to this fabulous set, this time for Valentine’s Day. Alongside this set I also used a wonderful damask style stamp from the French Script stamp plate. Before I share the project a little word about sourcing Oxford Impressions stamps. If you have clicked any recent O.I. links then you might have noticed it takes you to Suzanne’s Etsy site where the stamp plate prices are noted in £. If however you do not want to order from this site then That’s Crafty and The Craft Barn between them stock a good selection of Oxford Impressions.
The alphabet was perfect for declaring Amour on this altered canvas to make a home decor piece.
After painting the canvas I used a Distress Ink and the damask style stamp from French Script to create a shabby pattern.Light is a constant issue at the moment but maybe you can decipher the design in this photograph. It is more distinct in reality and the colours in the main image are the true colours, not as depicted below.
The letters were stamped onto painted canvas to bring added texture to the piece and then hand-cut. Of course the canvas had to be embellished with lace and then further adorned with faux crystal drops.
If I am being perfectly honest, I knew on receiving this stamp set that there would be many uses for it but it has actually surprised me just how versatile it is. This is not the only alphabet set available but it is the largest.
This set will show up a few times between now and the 14th of February as I have some more projects where I have made use of it.
Doesn’t it seem as though we only have Christmas out of the way and we are, as crafters, focused already on another celebration. Then once Valentine’s Day is over with we move onto Easter, is it any wonder that our year appears to pass so quickly!
Thank You for visiting the first of my Valentine’s Day projects.
Wishes
Lynne
