Golden Child

This is only the second time I have joined in with Dezinaworld‘s Spotlight Challenge. I was stunned to see that my card for last week’s theme, “Lyrics” won. This week the theme is “Gold & Lace” and the deadline is 16th September so you still have time to enter!
This beautiful image was provided by Vintage Dragonfly.

On the rear of the image I painted a thin layer of antique gold (hue) acrylic before adhering to a piece of sheet music. When it was still drying I peeled away patches of the sheet music. After stamping the lace stamp onto cardstock (painted with the same gold paint), I adhered the image straight onto the stamped panel.

This results in a distressed image, patches of gold, patches of sheet music and little bits of the stamped background showing through. I really like this effect as there is a sense of depth. Painted a cream card with a softer shade of gold paint and also painted the piece of lace.

I am also linking this to Cindy Adkins’ “Creative Spirit Challenge” link party which is taking place until 15th September. Every month from the 8th-15th you can link up anything you have created to her Blog. Why not visit the link and join in the fun 🙂 Lynne x

Beautiful, Lynne. Love the soft golds but the translucency of the image with the music showing through is so ethereal and speaks volumes of times gone by. Congratulations on winning last week, btw – well done, you! Sorry, I can’t blog hop as much as I used to now, so I missed it:(

I love this piece, especially the beautiful translucent image. Gorgeous.

The lace background is stunning – who makes the stamp please, Lynne?

The lace stamp is by La Blanche which I bought from QVC. It came in a pack and as you can see it is a very large stamp. Lynne x

    Congratulations, Lynne..your successs is well-deserved.

This is very interesting as well as beautiful. I was just wondering what kind of image did you start off with that allowed the gold paint to show through?

I guess you stamped the image onto acetate.

The effect is remarkable and the whole thing is exquisite.

The image was printed onto regular glossy photo paper. I then used the cold contact method (clear sticky back plastic) in this case. Lynne x

Congrats to you Lynn and so well deserved! One of my favorite middle eastern vintage photos also (I have used that one for my sister’s “belly dance type” cards. I love how you sponged the gold and used it to make the image pop! 🙂
