Last Days of Summer

Probably not the most suitable time of the year to display beach related art but I look at it this way, somewhere in the world it has to be summer lol
You may  recognise that this image is from ARTchix Seaside Cuties (received as part of August DT package from The Altered Element) . Although I used some of the images in previous posts, Life’s A Beach and A Day At The Seaside I still had several remaining.
Once the blush pink acrylic paint had dried I added Picket Fence Crackle paint then sponged Tea Dye ink into the cracks. Stamped 2 tickets and the Hotel advertisement and ripped a piece of striped fabric, layering all onto the canvas. The Basic Grey die cut, although supposed to be a branch with leaves, to my eyes, also had a look of seaweed. Cut out the Seaside Cutie, matting to card for stability and tucked it into the “seaweed”, finally adding shells, some of which I broke and layered onto the “shingle” on the image.

Beautiful! They weren’t afraid of showing fat white thighs in those days. I was obviously born too late!

Oh, but I like that so much…and the leaves do look like seaweed!

P.S. I am not sure if I already told you this. If you are interested, there is a jewelry giveaway on my blog from Robin Thomas and myself.

I’ve always loved these old bathing suits (to look at them, not to wear them, mind 🙂 Your card looks lovely, with the right tickets to match! Ira

This is so refreshing and beautiful!! It’s nice to see a seaside piece in the midst of all the Halloween going on right now…. the bright little piece of striped fabric, the fun image, the shells – so pretty altogether!

It’s lovely to see a summery piece now that it’s so cold and gloomy here in the UK. Love how the striped fabric adds a pop of colour.

I like this. It will be seaside time somewhere…Australia probably! The old bathing costumes are so much more sophisticated than bikinis, don’t you think? May be it’s just I never really felt comfy in a bikini and its just sour grapes.
It whisks us straight back to how we imagine the twenties and thirties were like for the well-off to holiday in expensive hotels!!!
    Take care!!!

This is just so gorgeous. That has to be a British beach (or possibly Scottish) with all those pebbles and no sand. And imported shells, lol. Plus a pic of Lynne M in her bathing suit, tee hee hee. xx
