Do You Believe?

Hello Everyone
Over the coming weeks I will be sharing a few Crafty Individuals team samples where I have been playing with one of their recent Elements sets, CI-396.  This set includes a large Santa, an angel and text stamps which to my mind are always so useful.
It is possible that the sample I am sharing in this post will crop up at the Crafty Individuals Blog for the October Challenge.  Jean set the challenge for this month as October and here are some of her words on the theme.

Challenge time again folks!  The title to work with this month is simply ‘October’.  That means your project theme can be anything that springs to your mind when you think of the month of October.  It may remind you of Halloween of course, or Autumn perhaps in all its glorious colours, or even simply a time when Christmas preparations begin?  Just follow where your imagination takes you!
CHALLENGE GUIDELINES
To enter this month’s Crafty Individuals Challenge please put together your chosen project, which must include at least one Crafty Individuals product please, then post your Challenge project on your Blog, before the end of the month, and include a link back to this Blog.  Leave a link in the URL box displayed in this post to take us directly to your Challenge project, which will then appear on this Blog as a thumbnail image – so we can all see your wonderful arty work.

At the end of the month we will set about choosing five lucky participants, each of whom will win a CI rubber stamp of their choice, and don’t forget that as per usual, once you have linked in your creation, you can also claim a lovely 25% discount code to use on anything you purchase from the CI Website, which will be valid until the 10th of November.
My sample falls into the category for Christmas preparations with this Christmas wall hanging/decoration using CI-396.

DIGITAL CAMERAIt is quite a tall panel, I should have measured it exactly but it is roughly 13″ tall so quite a tall panel.santacollagelynneLet’s start with Santa himself.  Stamping him onto one of my all time favourite stamping surfaces, painted vintage text, he fitted rather nicely onto this book page with just enough room to add some extra stamping in the form of that lovely distressed border which is a Crafty Individuals stamp, one of the stamps that they so generously included in a sample pack along with any on-line order.
I prefer to not paint images but with this being a festive project I added highlights with Sakura Stardust pen not that this can be seen in the photograph. birthdaycards 054One of the lovely text stamps in this Elements set is one with all the different names for Santa Claus.  What I did was exclude the word Santa Claus and layered it to the main panel. birthdaycards 051Leaving Santa behind we will move back to the top of the panel where I stamped another of those sample stamps, again onto painted text.
Layering onto corrugated cardboard running in the opposite direction from the main panel brings added interest to the hanging as a whole. detail2Sparkle is essential! Diamond glass glitter catches the light beautifully. birthdaycards 048Remember the word Santa Claus layered onto the main panel, this is the stamped element it was cut from embellished beneath with a star shape cut from a vintage doily and a cute jute string bow. birthdaycards 046Many, many months ago, on receipt of an E-bay purchase the seller was kind enough to tuck inside a few extras and I was delighted to see some vintage pom pom trim, it is a very small length and is always the case with me, I struggle to force myself to use such items, wanting to keep hold of them and know that they are there but somehow I was so drawn to using one of the pompoms on this hanging, it just seemed such a perfect fit for the panel. Topped with a seam binding bow. detail3We would love to see you join the fun at the Crafty Individuals Challenge, whether you want to embrace Autumn, Halloween or share with us your Christmas preparations.
Thank You for your visit to this post. It is a strange mix at the moment between Halloween and Christmas but with the days whizzing past us my Halloween projects will soon be coming to a close.
Wishes
Lynne
