Believing In Father Christmas

Hello Everyone
I first drafted this post as far back as October! Here I am two months later and still haven’t shared it with you, that shows how quickly time is passing by.
The Christmas hanging I am sharing uses stamps from a Crafty Individuals Elements set,  CI-396.  This set has a large Santa image, an angel and text stamps, in fact if pennies are tight yet you want to buy a Christmas themed stamp set then this surely is very good value.DIGITAL CAMERASince October I have shared a hanging and card using the angel and a hanging using Santa.  That particular hanging was white on white and at the time of working on that hanging I knew I also wanted to make another, really along the same lines but with a more rustic appearance to it.  I was keen to work with red but I cannot help myself, neutrals are what I love so I incorporated red in the form of the ric rac, the butcher’s twine (this is a lovely one I managed to source which is thicker than the twine we normally tend to craft with) and a fragment of red spotty fabric.
This Santa stamps a treat, stamped onto which is always a favoured stamping surface, painted vintage book text.santacollagelynnemoncrieff-001A Prima bark star (available from That’s Crafty) was perfect for the feel of this hanging.  I stamped the Santa Claus definition (included int this Elements set), cutting out only the word Santa.detailonstarA gathering of some rustic style elements and of course, a jingle bell.P1000580Believe is another Crafty Individuals stamp, I received this many moons ago when it was included in an order as a sample stamp.  Layered onto the spotty fabric gives a little pop of colour at the bottom of the hanging and further layered onto neutrals in the form of the burlap and found paper, scrunched and with Gesso it was stitched to the panel to form interest.P1000551Did you know that the Crafty Individuals Challenge for December is now underway with the challenge theme to make Something Festive. Details for entering the challenge can be read HERE and at  Jean’s Crafty Individuals Blog.
Thank You for your visit to this post and for all your visits already this week.

The hanging is wonderful Lynne, so much detail, so much to see. The Santa stamp is delightful and I love the little pops of red that you have added here and there. Even though we are both ancient in this household we always put out our ‘Santa Stop Here’ sign………..well, we would not want him to overlook us…. Hugs, Anne x

Dearest Lynne, you created the most lovely, sweet christmas hanger, I love the little pieces of red spots , and the polka dotted piece with :Believe -on and the crushed paper with the star , is wonderful eye catchers. The bark star is great!!
The Father Christmas stands so sharp on the painted book page ,and that crunched painted paper is a fabolous idea, my lovely friend.
Whom would not believe in Father Christmas, seing this gorgeous art piece.

Your Father Christmas (Love that term!) is such a lovely piece …
I marvel at the small touches you add that in the end have huge impact on the look and feel of what you create…
if I could be a fly on the wall watching you in action 🙂
Love all of your Christmas creativity so much ♥
p.s. your jingle bell reminds me of our youngest son when he was little and how he liked to wear a jingle bell around his neck hung on a piece of red yarn…
festive wee lad he was 🙂
