Art Isn’t Black & White: Red Lead Art House Kit (@ Somerset Life)

Hello
In the Apr/May/June issue of Somerset Life, one of the articles I have, is centred around a Red Lead art house, as an Art Kit idea.  Red Lead sell a few different styles, the same shape with slight variations in the items included, etc.  The Art Houses could form pencil/pen/paintbrush storage,   a home for a pretty plant or something completely different, like an art kit. There are no rules!
I’ve no idea why I don’t have more photos of the actual house.  The sides were stencilled, with Red Lead stencils.  For the front, the kit already has the “windows”.  I layered the same Red Lead collage image behind each window.  The thought behind the repetition of the image is the many sides of artists.

I focused on black and white embellishments to include in the art kit,

ribbons, buttons, clips, fabric and twine and the washi ribbon attached to the wooden spool.

The Frescos used to paint the Art House also appear on the cover of the mini watercolour paper pad.  Darkroom Door Word Blocks are great favourites of mine, this is the Creativity Word Block which is about the best one you could ever have in your stash.

Stamped labels which are Red Lead stamps, were attached to wee bundles of papers such as tissue, Red Lead collage images, etc.

When I packed the Art House Kit, it was fun, finding ways to including/attach as many items as possible. Suspending and attaching items upon items.

A wooden peg, painted and one of the words on the Word Block, clipped to a bundle of stamped Art Journaling style stamps, also from Red Lead.

This was the first time I had submitted an Art Kit to Somerset Life, it was great fun and to have it published, the cherry on the cake especially as, since first reading Somerset Life, Art Kits were always something I liked to spend time pouring over the photographs.
Thank you so much for your visit.

Find Yourself In Nature (The Stampers’ Sampler)

Hello
In the Apr/May/June 2017 issue of The Stampers’ Sampler, one of my features is the collection of cards I am sharing in this post, which came about after some play-time with Prima Christine Adolph rub-ons, after receiving some through my DT role with That’s Crafty .
My first introduction to the artist was via Stampington & Co, from the pages of their magazines and subsequently, when I got my hands on some of the art stamps (available from Stampington).  I paired each selected rub-on with a sentiment from various Darkroom Door Word Blocks.
Word Blocks are amongst my most favourite Darkroom Door stamps, especially Wellbeing and Wilderness.  If, like me, you love the addition of words on your projects, then the Word Blocks are musts.
Each card is approx 4″ x 2.5″.
When I was working on this collection, the gentleness of the rub-ons helped with my word selection.  Overall, I wanted a collection of cards which capture the serenity in nature.  Nature shares its many lessons with us and I wanted each card to be a moment to pause and to consider the message from Mother Nature.  Whether the freedom within the wings of a butterfly or the bliss of a new blossom or the stillness within nature.

Although they are small in stature, this does not in any way hinder the inclusion of layers of fragments.

Everything was stained with PaperArtsy Infusions, they provide that fluid,

delicately coloured background on watercolour paper and stain all the elements.

If you have used the Christine Adolph Rub-Ons, you will know that they vary in size within each pack.  Cards such as these are perfect for the smaller sized rub-ons.
timelessmomentslynnemoncrieffone
To add interest to the backgrounds, I stamped Christine Adolph stamps, Trims  and Collage Cube
blisslynnemoncrieffone
which helped bring a textural effect by stamping randomly.  I also stamped onto some of the fragments of Infusions stained found papers and textiles,
freedomlynnemoncrieffone
such as this tiny piece here, layered onto Infusions stained book page.

A Word In Your Ear (Greencraft)

Hello
I’ve been a real straggler this year and have got so much to catch-up with.
This post features a trio of ear-rings published in Stampington & Co’s Greencraft magazine,
resinearringstwolynnemoncrieff
This submission came about, simply from tidying up scraps of resin paper.  Although those scraps would not have been destined for the rubbish bin, I’d have most likely incorporated them into various projects but as I did the simple act of stacking similar sized pieces in my hands, from somewhere, the idea of ear-rings came straight into my head.
resinearringsonelynnemoncrieff
Pearls always bring a wee touch of elegance and they were a nice contrast to the resin paper.
resinpaperearringslynnemoncrieffthree
As a means of keeping the ear-rings tidy for their journey from Scotland to the U.S., I formed some simple packaging, again it was in keeping with the greencrafting theme.  I don’t have photos but I then wrapped them in burlap.

My Little Pretties (@ Somerset Life)

Hello
I have no idea where time is disappearing to!
Here I am sharing items which appear in an Oct/Nov/Dec issue of Somerset Life !!!
Somerset Life has been a favourite Stampington & Co title for the longest time,  a reader long, long before I first submitted, fulfilling an area in my creative life, as a reader and now someone who has submitted/published a few times, that is beautifully unique, it truly captures creative living.
I cannot even remember when I submitted this collection of pretties, possibly one year ago, in answer to a Tag challenge call.
As happens more often than not with me, they came about by chance.  I found myself with excess Gesso, grabbed some tags and swiped the Gesso onto them.  When I bundled them up, I happened to gather them along with some pink/red lace.  Suddenly, from that action, I had the idea of creating pretty tag ladies.  Those are moments that  make me happy LOL.
In that moment I had no doubt I would be inking up Character Constructions stamps.
onelynnemsomersetlife
She is one of my absolute, all time favourite Character Constructions stamps, I never tire of her.  It was wonderful to see her available on the That’s Crafty site.  You can find her HERE.
cctagtwolynnemoncrieffslife
All stamping is done directly onto the tag, zero fussy cutting on this project! This was all about the fun of adding the wee touches, such as the fabric formed into a simple bow for her hair.
cctagtwodetailtwolynnemoncrieff
They were presented as a bundle, tied with torn fabric that I had used on the tags, that is one of the reasons I kept to a limited colour palette, making them more attractive when viewed as a collective bundle.
cctagthreelynnemoncrieff
A stamped butterfly alights on her arm, wishing her a pretty day.
cctagthreedetailonelynnemoncrieff
This pretty holds out a welcoming flower.
cctagonelynnemoncrieffsomersetlife
cctagonedetailtwolynnemoncrieff
It was fun to adorn her hair with roses cut from lace rose trim.
cctagfourlynnemoncrieff
The wee birdie sings sweetly to her.
cctagfourdetailonelynnemoncrieff
A sentiment adorns the rear of each tag with a fragment of fabric.
ccrearoftag
Catherine Moore’s Character Constructions stamps allow me to dip into pretty with a touch of whimsy and can be light relief from when I have been immersed in my dreich and drippy (!) projects LOL.
Thank you so much for your visit to this post.  I continue to read through all the comments you generously leave for me to read.

PaperArtsy ESN Launch Night: “Wings”

Hello
Miriam Grazier and myself were selected as wingmen to Sara Naumann for her latest launch of stamps and stencils for PaperArtsy.
You cannot imagine the thrill it was for me, my second time as a wingman for Sara, I am genuinely a fan of her stamps, they are some of my most inked up stamps.  What heightened the thrill, I did not know the stamp or stencil designs until they were delivered, I was not disappointed.  They are slightly more collage in style than previous collections from Sara but they shine through as being Sara’s stamps, especially the words that are scattered throughout both sets.
I worked with ESN22 which, along with the other new stamp set and stencils, is available from That’s Crafty.
This is only a sneaky peek, with the full project available to view over at the PaperArtsy blog.   Thursday had Miriam share her fabulous project with Sara sharing her beautiful collaged card shared with us on Wednesday evening.
bloglaunchnightlynne With That’s Crafty being a stockist of the majority of PaperArtsy products, I sneaked in some That’s Crafty products, include the fabulous, new feather greyboards, which were launched earlier today. It’s been a busy day! I also used two That’s Crafty MDF substrates.
Thank you for your visit.

Let The Party Begin, A Celebration Gal (The Stampers’ Sampler)

Hello

The paper doll is constructed from Character Constructions stamps, quite a few stamps.
That’s Crafty is the U.K. stockist for Character Constructions stamps and will take special orders for any Character Constructions stamps which are not available in their shop/website.  You can contact That’s Crafty with your enquiries.

It is always fun to add trimmings and other details to the paper dolls.  It’s amazing how even the smallest details can add so much to the dolls.
