A Hint of Vintage (Jewelry Affaire)

Hello
Earlier this year, I had this collection of ear-rings published in Jewelry Affaire, a Stampington magazine which I’d been published in once before but not an article.  It was a huge surprise to receive an article request as submitting to this magazine was really just a challenge to myself, I had not submitted anything since that first time when the pendant was published in the gallery section.
The ear-rings followed on from some play time I had with vintage doilies (the hairbands and hair clips I shared recently).  I didn’t know if it would be possible to make ear-rings from the motifs but I had nothing to lose!

As you can see, only a handful of supplies were used to make each pair.

As with the motifs for the hairbands, they were treated (instructions are in the magazine).

It was kind of them to also include the packaging which was really only intended as a means to prevent the ear-rings becoming tangled as they made their way from Scotland to the Stampington office.

Thank you always for the time you take to pop on over here.

Muse Journals (Greencraft)

Hello
This trio of journals were made in 2016, with one being made as a DT project for Darkroom Door.  I enjoyed making the journal so I set about making two more.
The resin paper journals article appears in the summer issue of Greencraft magazine.  Greencraft is focused on re-cycling, re-purposing, etc, a fabulous magazine from Stampington & Co.  The re-purposed elements on my journals were old book pages, transformed into resin paper and found packaging, which I stamped the Darkroom Door stamps onto.

I have to thank my lovely friend Dorthe as she gifted that lovely copper and ivory fabric to me and it has been something I have reached for time and again for projects, the colours and the textures are perfectly suited for me.

The details for the journals are all within the Greencraft article but I’m not giving anything away by saying that each journal features a Relics & Artifacts.  They seemed so suited to team up with the Darkroom Door stamps, particularly the Word Block stamp.

The found paper/card was made grungy before stamping.

I like how the hand appears to be reaching for a pencil.

This is a detail of the resin paper.  It is so addictive to make, in fact I really need to be making some more, must do so before winter sets in as I prefer as much ventilation as possible.
Thank you always for your visits. I feel distanced from on-line activity so when I do manage to up-date my blog and read your comments, it means a great deal to me.

I Believe (The Stampers’ Sampler)

Hello
I thought I would share a collection of cards which appear in the July/Aug/Sept issue of The Stampers’ Sampler.
The cards were inspired by beautiful Artist paper (which appeared in a Somerset Studio) designed by Rachel Emilie Jackson, I’ve no doubt that many of you will recognise her name, an inspirational artist.  I kept that Artist paper safe until last year, when I decided to stop saving items “for a rainy day”.
Imagine my joy when I made one collection and it appeared in The Stampers’ Sampler and another collection submitted and published in Somerset Life (will share another time).
The Stampers’ Sampler focuses on stamping so I added touches of stamping to each card.  I wanted the overall appearance to be one where my backgrounds, with Frescos, would blend with the Artist paper, fortunately, Rachel’s palette is one that I am drawn to and the chalky appearance of the Frescos worked a treat with the quality of the Artist paper.

The cards are quite small in dimension, this was dictated by the Artist paper, in me selecting as many elements from the paper as possible, so that I could make as many cards as possible.

The  Frescos, the colours and chalky texture allowed me to carry the paint onto the Artist paper and integrated so well with the Artist paper.

This was my favourite colour palette, soft blue with the warm buff, peachy tone.

Embellishments were kept to a minimum, a vintage button and the tiniest scraps of crochet lace or jute ribbon

Whatever it is, I hope you have it in abundance in your life.

Learning To Fly

Hello
Sunday morning roles around once more and that signals my DT post for That’s Crafty and sharing a sneaky peek of it with complete project on view HERE.
blogimage3septemberThis week, as with most weeks, my project features some of my very favourite products, many of them from That’s Crafty’s own product range: shrine, greyboard wings and acrylic paint.  Those wings are such beauty, they are from the large wings greyboard sheet which can be bought as an individual sheet or as a set alongside smaller wings and large and small feathers.  It’s clever of That’s Crafty to offer different options for purchasing their greyboard embellishments.
Have a lovely day whether you are managing to grasp the last days of summer or heading straight into Autumn, the scenario where I stay.
