The Sweetest Friend

Hello Everyone
I was overwhelmed at the generosity bestowed upon me on my birthday.  The house is filled with beautiful cards, tags and art, not to mention the amazing crafting goodies I also received.  It is incredible to see the array of styles, with each friend having their own distinctive style to their art, making them unique.
For this scheduled post I decided to share the first gift I opened (it seems a fair way) from my dearest friend Dorthe.
This is a photo heavy post but I wanted to cram it with the details of the gifts from Dorthe. Let me not say anymore for the moment other than start to share the photographs with you.
The packages were so pretty I photographed before opening. DIGITAL CAMERAInside the fabric pouch is this wooden tag which Dorthe stencilled and collaged. I am sure it is a  Paper Whimsy image and a lovely handmade flower embellishes the tag. DIGITAL CAMERAPretty fabric and ribbon.
DIGITAL CAMERAwith this  gorgeous collage nestled under the ribbon. The collage is  brimming with texture and layers and then we have that sweet child.  It is the smallest of details that always count – look at the L which Dorthe included.  I absolutely love this collage.DIGITAL CAMERANow at this stage I have been spoilt, wouldn’t you say but wait until you see what else Dorthe sent to me. Tucked inside the fabric was this doll. Each time I set eyes upon her  she brings me such joy and leaves me touched that a friend would create something so special.
She measures approximately 10″ in length and I just adore her.
Wearing a pretty pink dress covered in gorgeous lace with a lace shawl around her shoulders, keeping out the chill of the Scottish air. Her rusty wings are quite fabulous, matching her ….DIGITAL CAMERA rusty crown which surrounds a cluster of dried flowers….DIGITAL CAMERAthen to the beaded heart she is clutching and her arms cradling a glorious padded heart. Did you notice the rusty bells?DIGITAL CAMERAAsking permission to lift her dress hem (!) we can take a peek at her beautiful boots with those wonderful laces.  The details on her are just too amazing. DIGITAL CAMERAFor Christmas I was incredibly lucky to be gifted an angel doll from Dorthe but I never imagined I would have a friend for her. Dorthe  knows that I started to treasure this doll as soon as I laid eyes upon her.
So many of you already are friends of Dorthe’s incredible blog or lucky, as I am, to be friends with this delightful woman but if Dorthe’s name is new to you then you are in for a treat when you visit her Blog.
If I ever were to forget, it is at such times that I realise if not for blogging I would never  have had the opportunity to have made a connection with my dear friend. In fact my  absence from blogging made me realise that all the more and to realise how important so many of you are to me.
I have enjoyed sharing the photographs with you of Dorthe’s artistry, I hope you enjoyed looking at them.  Slowly I will photograph my other gifts and start to share some more beautiful art from more talented friends.
I have a few posts scheduled for this week as I am trying to keep Adorn more active. Have a lovely week and hope to visit you soon.

And Christmas Continues

I received a beautiful package of art in the mail the other day from Julie. This package was such a surprise and as I opened it this is what I discovered.
Warm Winter Wishes card. Isn’t that image so lovely.
Also this flag with such an adorable image and notice the little glass bell at the bottom.
If that were not enough Julie included gold braid ribbon, pearl beads and the most unusual brads.
It is said time and time again by all of us that crafters have to be amongst the most generous people. Within the crafting community we connect with each other, will probably never actually meet but are willing to share art and goodies, I am lucky to be part of this and very lucky to have received such a package from Julie. Christmas may be past but her art is on display in my home. Julie, thank you so much. Lynne x

Wonderful Mail Days

Leading up to Christmas Day I was amazed at how many stunning cards, tags and ornaments I received in the mail  so in today’s post I wanted to share some of the artwork I received. All the cards shown here were sent from friends with Blogs.

Sweet angel from Lucy  from Alison beautiful photo real angels and from Jack one of my favourite stamps, Serena, graces this card with muted, vintage tones.
Also from Alisona special ornament to display all year.
Annette sent me a card with embossed trees and a scattering of stars and a tag.

Chris made a card that oozes a sense of gentleness. Look at the heart shaped MOP button and seam binding.
Debbie made this shadowbox ornament. Isn’t it really precious, look at the tiny Christmas tree!

Hazel sent me a card that is full of warmth. Beautifully coloured poinsettia and wonderful attention to detail.

From Ira a card that makes me smile. Rudolph has a very red nose lol

Lynn Stevens sent me this beautiful tag. Look at the lace and the clear snowflakes. A real sense of a frosty, snowy day on this tag.

A tag from Marie. An adorable image graces this gorgeous tag. Marie used beautiful shades of dove grey and silver. Did you notice the teeny “noel”?

and from Martina. Intricate cutting as she layered her stamped image over a beautifully coloured tag. Sumptuous is the word that came to mind as I opened this.

I am so lucky to have this many people  (and more) think of me at this time of the year. As you can imagine, our home is brimming with amazing pieces of art. Lynne x

Special Delivery

At the weekend I received the most beautiful gift in the mail. Chris had mentioned that she was sending a “little gift” my way and although I had no idea what she was sending I can tell you that when I opened the padded envelope I certainly wasn’t prepared for what was tucked inside.
Wrapped in the most beautiful fabric and tied with ribbon were these gifts
When I tell you I was speechless I am sure you can understand why. Chris altered a notebook for me using various fabrics, trims, look at the handmade flower. She also used one of my favourite images.
If that were not enough wait until you see inside.
A fabric pocket containing another work of art, this time a tag (this will make  such a beautiful bookmark).
I particularly love that Chris used pink but it is not a sugary pink, it has the appearance of faded with time, a look I love so much.
She took the time to make little card bobbins, threading on embroidery threads, baker’s twine also pretty lace.
I am sure you agree that this is a very special gift. At the moment it is sitting out on display.
Chris, thank you for making something that I will treasure for always. You brought together everything I love, lace, vintage images, the colours, so much thought and love has obviously gone into everything.  I am in awe of what you have created. Lynne x

Precious Package

Some days people make you feel so special. I had such a day when I received a package from Nancy Maxwell James.
This adorable card was the first out of the package. Beautiful detailing, notice the little gem on her crown.
Then a fabric hanging. Nancy has created this hanging with layers of fabric and trims and of course a Paper Whimsy image. Aren’t Paper Whimsy incredibly fortunate to have Nancy create for them. Can you believe that there was still more to come. The most precious fabric heart. Held to the light it has the most delicate sparkle. Tucked behind the image of the little girl is a length of lace. Finally this beautiful A.T.C comprising another beautiful image and torn layers of paper.

Nancy, I will treasure each and every one of these beautiful creations. Already they are all on display. Many Thanks for your thoughtfulness my friend. Lynne x

Packaged With Care

When Marie from Lost Bird Studio contacted me to say I had won her Giveaway well I cannot tell you how excited I was. From the first time I visited Marie’s Blog I was in awe of her art. She creates with such beauty that the prospect of owning a piece of her art was thrilling.
Fast forward one week and a large jiffy bag is delivered. When you look at the photographs just imagine how I felt on opening the envelope to have all these goodies spill out. Marie packaged everything with care and love.
This is the bag which Marie showed on her Blog for the Giveaway.
What a treasure, it is completely adorable and love the lace and buttons alongside the sweet image of the children, look at the older girl (a sister?) with her arm on the little one’s shoulder.
This beautiful lace panel and look more lace, trims and seam binding.

Beautiful Blooms – paper flowers with brads, dried flowers and a beautiful handmade flower consisting of layers of fabric, vintage tissue it is as light as a feather.

A bundle of paper delights – labels and die-cuts, postage stamps and more
What is this lovely bundle of papers?
sheet music, ledger paper and more

Believe it or not there are still more goodies.
Look at the sweet bird’s nest, the bird’s nest charm, rusty heart and the very special Memories embellishment.
Spilling out of the handmade bag, a bundle of lovely cream and off-white buttons.

In such instances, “Thank You” is never enough to express gratitude. I look at those photographs and cannot believe how lucky I was to “win” all this. Every single item is an item I love and would want. Marie, thank you for your generosity and such attention to detail. The bag is displayed on a wall as a piece of art and all the goodies, I will look at and “ooh” and “aah” over until I decide to use them in artwork. Wishes. Lynne

Thanks To A Few People

I was amazed to learn that Ira presented me with this award

Thank you so much Ira, you made my day. So now I want to pass this award to a crafter who I find to be completely inspirational …. Sue Allan. Sue creates art with such a distinctive look, whether a card, mini quilt, etc and  recycling is very important to Sue and almost all of her art will encompass some recycling. Here is the link to Sue’s Blog, “Little Imperfections“. If you have never visited before, I hope you will take the time out to do so.
More Thanks – Jacqueline “My Craft Basket” sent me this sweet card and also a little gift.  Although I knew of Jacqueline’s work from being published in The Stampers’ Sampler, I only discovered her Blog through Tag Tuesday. She creates such elegant art.

Even More Thanks – Cindy Adkins said she was sending me a little surprise. She had made this A.T.C. for me.

A Parisian theme, I’d say that Cindy must know my tastes very well LOL. Cindy’s Blog is called “Cindy’s Whimsical Musings” which is overflowing with gorgeous art. Cindy also hosts the Creative Spirit Challenge and if you pop over to her Blog you will find the details.
So thank you everyone for brightening my day. Lynne x
