Queen Marie (Published in The Stampers’ Sampler)

Hello Everyone
When last year June from Dezinaworld sent over the most amazing Marie Antoinette images I was so delighted as she had brought together a wonderful collection of images. Immediately I made some tags, etc but it was nearing the end of the year when I set about making cards to submit.
Fast forward to earlier this year when I received my complimentary copy of The Stampers’ Sampler (Jan/Feb/Mar) and my surprise to see the Marie cards which I’d actually submitted to their sister publication, Take Ten.
Alongside June’s images I also used various Oxford Impressions stamps.
Three cards were published but I will just share two here in this post.
I should point out that the Marie images are png’s which I set against French postcards from French Kissed Postcards. That is the beauty of png’s, having the flexibility of which background to use.
DIGITAL CAMERAI simply love this image of Marie in that glorious gown.
A fabric rose was added to the stamped bow. DIGITAL CAMERAA slightly more mature Marie I’d say in this image. DIGITAL CAMERAThank You for taking the time to visit this post.
Have a lovely weekend.

The Language They Speak

Hello Everyone
This is another scheduled post. For this post I thought I would share something I made a couple of months ago.
When I saw this  particular flower image at French Kissed Postcards I knew I had to use it for a friend who loves flowers. The first part of the gift was a muslin bag which I decorated in a simple fashion with scraps of lace, velvet ribbon and button.
For the bag the image was transferred onto cotton fabric. On the back of the bag I simply stamped a favourite text stamp from Oxford Impressions’ Le Jardin
Then, as I cannot help myself, I decorated another shopping list pad (I’m afraid to tell you I will have more of those to share at a later date!). The same image was used but this time printed directly onto heavy weight white cardstock. I always appreciate the visits my Blog receives but none moreso than when I am absent from Blogland. I hope that when this post goes out there that I am at least managing a little bit more time on-line.
I hope to see you on October 1st when I will have a DT sample for The Stampsmith Challenge to share. Until then, thank you for your time today.

For All She Has To Remember (Somerset Life)

Hello Everyone
Aren’t the days whizzing past? For this scheduled post I am sharing an altered shopping list pad. The first time I prettied up one   was last year as DT art for June @ Dezinaworld and since then I’ve altered many, in fact I will have some more to share with you soon. This particular one is so special to me because it was published in Somerset Life (Summer issue), as I type those words I can still hardly believe it.
I had no idea it had been selected as a Creative Living Idea so imagine my shock when I was looking through this issue back in July and spied it! They photographed the pad so beautifully on a full page layout and on the facing page they wrote the most wonderful write-up but for this post I am sharing the photograph I took of the pad. This beautiful image is available from Trishia at French Kissed Postcards and because I couldn’t resist it I added a bow to her hair courtesy of  Oxford Impressions with Beauty coming from The Stampsmith’s Say It With Flair plate. It is the most wonderful feeling when creative dreams do come true.
Thank you for visiting this post and for the lovely comments you leave for me to read. I will catch-up with all of you soon.

A Postcard From Marie

Hello Everyone
Thank You for your visits and comments for the previous post.
Last week I posted a notebook using one of Dezinaworld’s Marie images from (Marie 7 set png) at the time of altering the notebook I also made two tags for friends. The tags work on the same idea as the notebook in that I selected the png I wanted to work with, re-sized it and set it against a postcard from French Kissed Postcards. Then, because I cannot help myself as a stamper, I added some stamping using stamps from Oxford Impressions.
I used a good quality cardstock to print onto which allowed me to be heavy handed with distressing (abrading and sanding before inking).  Trims and seam binding were dyed to co-ordinate with this image.  I just love the colours in this image. The second tag Trims were layered and pearls added.June had an enforced break but she is back!  It always worthwhile visiting her Blog for up-dates on new releases and sale items.  There is a stunning image sheet that she is promoting at the moment, I am sure it will become a favourite with many of us. The link to June’s blog is at the top of this post.

A Place For Her Musings

Hello Everyone
As Sunday’s post was quite lengthy I thought I’d make this scheduled post a more brief affair.
Back in July, June at Dezinaworld announced a new png set consisting of 7 Marie Antionette images., now if you are fans of Marie then this set will be irresistible.
I selected the Marie I wanted to work with, setting her against a postcard image available from French Kissed Postcards.  After printing  I added some stamping using stamps from Oxford Impressions.  (Versailles plate). The notebook was covered with canvas which I  painted and stamped, layered with lace, a paper doily then the postcard image was added trimming it with picot edged ribbon and more lace.

.The bow (Oxford Impressions’ The Dressmaker) was stamped onto found paper. A ribbon bookmark was added as a finishing touch.
Thank You for visiting today and also for the lovely feedback on the altered mailer.

The Dancer

Hello Everyone
A very quick scheduled post today where I’d like to share a tag I made some weeks ago for my art friend, Marie. This tag features an image from French Kissed Postcards (Zibbet store). I love this image of Cleo de Merode set against French music and script.
The tag base is one of Crafty Individuals’ indispensible Shabby Tags. I then layered pieces of lace I’d dyed in tea bath and fragments of text and Tissue Tape to highlight those elements that are part of the image. You may already be aware of this if you are a Follower of Trishia’s FKP Blog but if not, you might be interested to know that she has a free image available for you to use in your art.
Thank you for taking the time to visit especially as I have not been around much this past week. You know that I always hope to catch-up with what you have been creating at some point.

She Holds Wisdom In Those Eyes

Hello Everyone
This scheduled post is a short one, yes, you are allowed to brief a sigh of relief!
Today I’d like to share a tag I made for my lovely friend Dorthe using, to my mind, a beautiful image of a child which came from Trishia at French Kissed Postcards.  I have some other items to share using images from Trishia but today it is only this tag. This little girl captivated my heart, maybe it is the look in her eyes, does she not look as though she has years of wisdom. This image was available as a freebie from Trishia. Trishia is one of those incredibly generous women (June, you are another!) who provides images for free so we are lucky enough to be able to use them in our art. If you did not catch this image at the time then I am sure it will be available at the French Kissed Postcards Zibbet store.
Thank you for taking the time to visit today and I hope to be able to catch-up with you soon.

Playing By The Shore

Hello
Recently I shared a Journal I decorated using one of Trishia’s French Kissed Postcard scans that she made available as a freebie in the month of February and which I entered into her Kissed Again competition (read all the details on her FKP Blog). She has also been sharing some unloved digital scans, one of which was a vintage bathing belle. Well I couldn’t resist playing with this image and here is the postcard I created.I gathered little bits of this and that and to support the image I used stamps from Oxford Impressions’ By The Sea. This stamp set has a vintage bathing theme so they were perfect.Trishia is also hosting another competition called Love Me Two, so lots of fun over at the FKP Blog.

Marie Learns To Type

Hello
Trishia at French Kissed Postcards is known for her generosity, making available a free scan every Monday but for the month of February she went a step further by giving a free image away daily. Then if that were not enough fun she set up two competitions one of which is “Kissed Again” (all details available at Trishia’s French Kissed Postcard’s Blog). Trishia asks that we create something with one of her scans (free or purchased). I was keen to join in with this but as tends to be the case, life gets in the way resulting in less time for creating so I decided to double up Kissed Again with a swap which was organised by  Gerri.  Gerri sent us a fun pack of crafty bits:- an image, old sheet music, little plastic flowers, a stamped butterfly, etc, etc. The idea of the swap, to make something using at least 4-5 items from the pack before the deadline of 20th March.
As I was pushed for time I was unable to set about creating anything elaborate so I settled on another Journal. This stunning image is from Trishia at FKP and I have listed the items I used from Gerri’s crafty pack.I am not particularly drawn to blue but I have to say that I do like blue when it is that Robin Egg blue, that is appealing, I also liked the name of this paint, Pompadour Blue!
From the pack I received from Gerri I used
. fabric type of paper (don’t know its source)
. lace (used as corner accent)
. German scrap
. sheer ribbon (used to tie around the spine of the notebook)
That lovely decorative stamp is from Oxford Impressions’ Court of Versailles plate.
The postcard back is from French Kissed Postcards.
Finally I am linking this to Beverly’s wonderful Pink Saturday. This week it is not only all about pink but also green to celebrate St Patrick’s Day, so with my Journal having touches of pink and green I am linking it up.
Have a wonderful weekend.

A Penny For Your Thoughts.

Doesn’t a year pass in the blink of an eye. It was around this time last year that I was introduced to Trishia and French Kissed Postcards. Trishia has the deepest passion for all things French and vintage postcards.  Take a look at her Zibbet store where she  sells digital scans, the array is amazing and she frequently has special offers so most definitely worth a peek. Trishia is also generous of heart as each week she has a free image for downloading at her Blog (click first link). A recent download was a stunning image of a female which I had to use a.s.a.p. Looking at this image I am sure someone would say to her “A penny for your thoughts”.
I made tags as an alternative to cards I wished to send to friends. Some little details. I love to use this “Muse” stamp on artwork I send to artistic friends. I believe the set it is from is now discontinued, a set from Oxford Impressions.Isn’t it such a beautiful image? Trishia provided it in different colourways. Initially the sepia stood out as my absolute favourite but I also like this as well. All tags were initially stamped with French writing before layering pieces of lace, etc. The “wish” stamp is available from Oxford Impressions’ on the Sleigh Bells plate.
Merci. This tag is constructed in a similar manner, little bits of this and little bits of that.
If you use images in your art then you are missing out if you don’t visit French Kissed Postcards.   The most adorably quirky image is available at the moment on the FKP Blog (see top of post) but hurry as the free image for each particular week is only available for 7 days. Once a new image is available for download, the old image is no longer available as a freebie so you need to be quick of f the mark.
Thank you as always for taking the time to visit. I also want to say “Hello” to the latest subscribers to Adorn.
