She Is An Artist: Art Tag Bundle (from Somerset Studio)

Hello
I have a few drafted posts, sharing makes from a wee while ago, such as this project which was submitted to Stampington & Co’s Somerset Studio Art Challenge, Tag You’re It! and subsequently published in their July/August 2017 issue.
I was inspired by stencils and stamps from Red Lead Paperworks, PaperArtsy EEA designed by Kasia Avery and That’s Crafty, to alter a bundle of ordinary shipping tags with the stamps, stencils, Infusions, etc and binding with another shipping tag which forms the cover.Turn the tag bundle over and there is more of the stamping and stencilling, much layering to create a grungy feeling.
For each tag, what I would call the front of the tag, has a That’s Crafty stamp, which I cut into word tiles after stamping.  I like this effect because it brings more emphasis to each word, allowing doodling to be formed around the tiles for definition and allows me to play around with placement, thereby altering the original alignment of the stamped words.
That’s Crafty Inspirational Quotes Set 2
PaperArtsy EEA designed by Kasia Avery, are the most perfect stamps for adding detail and Infusions were the most perfect of media to stain the tags.

Here are some of the tags.
As each tag is quite dark in tone, white paint pen markers were what I needed to add highlights.
Then, flip them over and a stencilled art sentiment from Red Lead is the focal, with stamping forming a border.
Here are some more details of the tags.
Tags were something I began to alter in the early days of my rubber stamping journey so it was very special to have this project and another one, with a nature theme, published in Somerset Studio.
Many Thanks for your visits.

Art Girl Journals (Somerset Life)

Hello
In the Apr/May/June issue of Somerset Life, one of the articles I had  published, this bundle of journals.  I didn’t take the time to look at my photos when the journals were still in my possession, it was only when organising this blog post recently, when looking at the photos, the colours are not true and I have fiddled around but cannot capture the warmth of the kraft colour of the journals. Decided to share them anyway.
Products from two of my favourite companies, RedLead and PaperArtsy, appear.  PaperArtsy Eclectica Everything Art ( at That’s Crafty).  Red Lead collage sheets and various stamps and some from their Labels collections.

I kept a simple palette of the kraft journals, white Gesso and accent of black.

Inside the cover of each, I stencilled or stamped, art related sentiments, all available from Red Lead (if you have this copy of Somerset Life then you will see some of the inside pages they shared within the article)

Two smaller journals.

Red Lead have the most stunning collection of images to select from.

I wanted a simple packaging idea for the notebooks and it doesn’t get as simple as glassine paper and bakers twine, the journals all bundled together with

each journal also tucked inside its own glassine pocket, again simply adorned with the wonderful Red Lead Art Girl label (I so love this label).

Have a lovely week!

I Believe (The Stampers’ Sampler)

Hello
I thought I would share a collection of cards which appear in the July/Aug/Sept issue of The Stampers’ Sampler.
The cards were inspired by beautiful Artist paper (which appeared in a Somerset Studio) designed by Rachel Emilie Jackson, I’ve no doubt that many of you will recognise her name, an inspirational artist.  I kept that Artist paper safe until last year, when I decided to stop saving items “for a rainy day”.
Imagine my joy when I made one collection and it appeared in The Stampers’ Sampler and another collection submitted and published in Somerset Life (will share another time).
The Stampers’ Sampler focuses on stamping so I added touches of stamping to each card.  I wanted the overall appearance to be one where my backgrounds, with Frescos, would blend with the Artist paper, fortunately, Rachel’s palette is one that I am drawn to and the chalky appearance of the Frescos worked a treat with the quality of the Artist paper.

PaperArtsy Everything Art wonderful text stamp was exactly what was needed to add hints of text and

the I Believe stamps, again from the Everything Art collection were an instant choice

The cards are quite small in dimension, this was dictated by the Artist paper, in me selecting as many elements from the paper as possible, so that I could make as many cards as possible.

The  Frescos, the colours and chalky texture allowed me to carry the paint onto the Artist paper and integrated so well with the Artist paper.

This was my favourite colour palette, soft blue with the warm buff, peachy tone.

Embellishments were kept to a minimum, a vintage button and the tiniest scraps of crochet lace or jute ribbon

What do you believe in?
Whatever it is, I hope you have it in abundance in your life.

Thank you, always, for your visits. Life is a bit of a strain at the moment with personal matters keeping me away from on-line activity but trying to keep my That’s Crafty DT commitment fulfilled and fortunately, I had a few projects made for such times.

Craft Stamper

Hello
I have overlooked sharing peeks at projects I have in Craft Stamper (May issue).
With the brief of making cards to a vintage/shabby style with colours of Springtime, I had fun working with Character Constructions stamps.  Catherine Moore generously offered one stamp set for a lucky winner – there is still time to enter the Giveaway!

The second card in my article features PaperArtsy, from the recently released ScrapCosy (ESC) which seemed a perfect fit for the brief and was a lovely contrast to the whimsical image on the first card, with the ESC flower being more traditional in style.

In this same issue, I also appear as my role with the That’s Crafty DT, as we had the wonderful challenge of working with a That’s Crafty Splat, for the Craft Stamper 3D Challenge.  I had fun incorporating PaperArtsy stamps and RELICS & ARTIFACTS onto the Splat. I’ve always thought that R&As and That’s Crafty Alterable Surfaces are perfect for each other.

Thank you to Trish Latimer and for the wonderful companies who created such fabulous products to play with.
