Pack It In (Published in Somerset Studio!)

A change of plan to the post I had drafted, having scheduled Divas D’Este artwork for today although that part remains the same but instead of the planned post I am changing it for something that has come out of the blue.  I am published in Somerset Studio! I have two gift bags published for their Colour Filled Holiday challenge.
Christmas preparations can be frenzied so the  idea behind my submission was to create practical and pretty gift packaging using only a handful of supplies and with the minimum of expense. As much as I like altering brown paper bags I wanted a crisp appearance to the gift bags so used white lunch bags.
Both images are from Divas D’Este. The first image is from the Merry Christmas sheet and the children from Christmas kids. All stamps are from Oxford Impressions’ Winter Snow plateThe bags have a slightly wax coating so permanent inks have to be used.Due to the minimum of supplies required this makes it easy to create a batch in an evening. An ideal project for using up scraps!
I am sorry if I have not managed to recently visit your Blogs,  I hope to catch up with all of you within the next couple of days.

The Teller of Stories

This post is Part II of Angel Faces. Before I share the hanging I made with another image from this sheet I want to tell you that if you visit June’s Dezinaworld blog you will see that June is generously offering a free image for you to use in your artwork. I know many of you are fans of Alice In Wonderland so I cannot imagine you would want to miss out on this freebie. It will only be available as a freebie for a limited time after that it will go on sale.
I have to say a huge thank you to Alison (craftytrog) who sent me this die-cut, amongst others. As a crafter who doesn’t own a die-cutting machine I appreciate receiving die-cuts to play with, having a different base to work on is fun.The die cut was covered in Melissa Frances paper before edging with rough glass glitter.Scraps were brought together with a heart shaped MOP button and ticket.
I am not too sure of the story she wants to share with us.
If you visit June’s Dezinaworld’s Blog you will also see the art my fellow DT members created with the Angel Faces image sheet, ranging from digital to real art.
I am linking this to Beverley’s wonderful Pink Saturday.

Mischief and Angels

Angel Faces is the image sheet from Dezinaworld that  I selected for this weeks DT artwork. This printable collage sheet is available for $2.  I knew I would have a tough decision as to which image to select so to make my life easy I selected a few to work with, in fact four for this little tag book.
The tags are from Crafty Individuals (amongst their Must Haves stock) and I set about layering scraps of paper to cover the tags. That charming little key charm was tucked inside one of June’s Lucky Treasure Bags which are for sale at her The Olde Curiosity Shoppe.Doesn’t she have mischief in her eyes?!!
You know me well enough by now to realise that the tags consist of scraps:- lace and trims, book text and tissue tape, I hold onto the tiniest pieces of tissue tape.
You will see that I printed this sheet onto canvas printer paper but there are just so many possibilities if it were to be printed onto transfers for fabric or even using gel medium to transfer to fabric.
Tomorrow I will share another project made using the Angel Faces sheet.

Sweet Music In The Air

Last week I shared the mini notebook I altered using Crafty Inviduals CI- 329 set, which is a Crafty Elements set comprising birdcages, birds, etc well today I have another piece of artwork which makes use of those stamps this time on a 7″x5″ canvas panel.Wanting the birdcage to be the main focal of the panel I made use of a mini stretched canvas. This was softly stained and painted and I partially stamped it with another CI stamp, their sheet music stamp. The birdcage was then stamped onto tissue paper and when dry I edged the panel with lace.
Music is a bit of a theme on this panel with stained tissue paper stamped with the CI sheet music stamp, tearing a panel for the mini canvas to sit upon and you will also note that I tore smaller pieces to layer here and there.
The main panel was formed into a hanging and to make it pretty I decorated the bottom edge with a wide band of lace.
I am sure those birdcages will turn up again very soon as I am enjoying playing with them.

Her Constant Companion (Fashionable Stamping Challenge – Colour Challenge)

A colour challenge is the challenge set at Fashionable Stamping Challenge. Of course being Fashionable it had to be a classic colour combination which is coffee & cream and let’s not forget that dash of dark chocolate.
How do you take your coffee, is it a frothy cappuccino with that grating of chocolate or a tall, white, flat skinny or do you like your coffee on the dark side, make this challenge fun and show us how you like your coffee! Please remember that we are looking for stamped entries, no digis are allowed. There are very few rules at this challenge site but if you click the link it will take you to the site and you can read all the information, see for yourself the prize on offer and also my very creative fellow DT members artwork for this challenge.Use stamps that represent coffee break or simply be inspired by the colours.
The stamps I used are from two different The Stampsmith sets. The beautiful woman with dog is from It’s A Dog’s Life and the words from Wizard of Oz. I rooted through my supplies and came up with ribbon, lace, flowers, felt trim and old book pages to layer onto the base which is a Kraft card, that perfect coffee colour.  The image was matted onto layers of different papers. I am aware that one layer has a mauve look to it but it is actually brown.
So let us see your coffee & cream, with that hint of dark chocolate entries for this challenges and have fun!

A Warm Glow On An Autumn Day

Today is the second of my projects using Dezinaworld’s Heart Treasures sheet (see yesterday’s post for watermarked version of image sheet. How I set about preparing the use of the image is all laid out in yesterday’s post except this time alongside the stamped word (Crafty Individuals) I also punched a heart from scrap of sheet music.
I hope that with both projects I’ve shown that the Dezinaworld images can be used to decorate basic items you have in your home whether to keep for yourself or to give away as wee gifts.
June is also promoting two French Ephemera sheets which are available for $2 each.
Before I end this post I want to thank you for the lovely, warm messages of congratulations for the flag that was published in Somerset Holidays & Celebrations.
I am linking this to Pink Saturday.

A Quick Note

Dezinaworld’s Heart Treasures is one of the many and ever increasing sheets of images available at the Dollar Sale. The images are ideal for quickly decorate various items, as I have done with a shopping list pad. Altering notebooks is a favourite of mine but they can be very time consuming. A shopping list pad does not need to  look boring and with very few supplies I decorated one with one of the Heart Treasures as the focal. The Heart Treasure sheet was printed onto canvas printer paper. After selecting the image I stamped Cherish (from Crafty Individuals). Tissue Tape and lace adorn the cover. On Friday I will return with my second project using another of the images from Heart Treasures.

On The Messenger’s Wings

I am having fun playing with the latest releases from Crafty Individuals. All stamps are from the Element set, CI-329. Valerie sent me this lovely little notebook ripe for altering.
Armed with Gesso, walnut ink and various paints I started with painting the covers. The sentiment was stamped onto stained and painted watercolour paper as was CI-194    (sheet music stamp). Lace and a pearl decorate the cover.
The back of the notebook was stamped in the same way.Inside I stamped a bird onto each of the pages to make them pretty. The Winged Things challenge at Crafty Individuals is still open, all details at Jean’s blog. Wishes. Lynne

When Cupid Strikes (Published!)

Last month I got the biggest surprise when I received an e-mail from Stampington & co congratulating me on being published in Somerset Holidays and Celebrations. Why it was a surprise, I had no idea I had anything published. It transpired that the complimentary issue had never been delivered to me but that was remedied when they sent out a replacement which I received at the weekend.
It was the first time I had submitted to this publication. By chance I came across a call for artwork but the deadline date was fast approaching. I had made a flag for The Stampsmith using cupid from Thank Heaven For Little Girls #2 so I tweaked it and quickly got it in the post. In my hurry to post the item I forgot to take a new photograph so I am sharing the original photograph, the pre-tweaked version!.I am just so thrilled that I have been published in this annual publication and glad that on that particular day I decided I had nothing to lose by submitting this piece.
